What's VSAT ?

Acronym
VSAT stands for Very Small Aperture Terminal, and is a small earth satellite station allowing you to transmit and receive data anywhere on earth. Typically, the satellite dish diameters range from 0.60cm to up to 9.0m, depending on your needs and your geographical location.

Data rate can be up to 10Mbps, even if the most common rates are rather around 128kbps to 1Mbps.

Usage
Those installations allow the customer to implement internet access, IP phoning, virtual private networks (VPN), or to establish its own fully independent satellite network, to connect for example branches to a headquarter.

The options range from the requirements of a single user (point to point) up to Global Networks for International agencies or corporations and networks can be configured as a MESH net where everyone can connect to each other directly or a STAR network where remote sites all connect back to a central point.

Frequencies
Our installations are working on both C-band and Ku-band.

The C band frequencies range from 3.4 GHz to 4.2 Ghz in reception, and from 5.725GHz to 7.075 GHz in transmission. They are typically used in tropical area, because of it's resistance to heavy rainfalls, the downside being that those installations need more expensive equipments (larger satellite dishes).

The Ku-band, on the other hand, is mainly used in Europe and America. It ranges from 10.7 GHz to 12.75 GHz (both reception and transmission) and can work with dishes as small as 60cm diameter.
